he 52nd Annual Dunedin Highland Games! An entire day of competitions in bagpipes (individual and bands), Highland dancing, Heavy Athletics, and a 5K Highland Trail Run! Bands performing music on two stages, Celtic merchandise vendors, Food vendors, Kidz Zone, and over 20 Scottish Clans and Societies for you to trace your Celtic Heritage! Come and spend the day!

45th Annual Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show

The Dunedin Youth Guild
Saturday, March 3, 2018 – 11:00 am
Conmy Center (Our Lady of Lourdes Church), 750 San Salvador Drive, in Dunedin

Doors open for a social hour at 11:00 am and lunch will be served at noon. The theme for this year’s Fashion Show is “Passion for Fashion” with fashions provided by Mirabella Fashions of Dunedin. Guests will also enjoy a refreshing lunch catered by Marguerite’s Cafe.

The cost is $35.00 per person and reserved tickets can be purchased from any Dunedin Youth Guild member, by calling 727-734-0394, or on-line by visiting www.dunedinyouthguild.org.

Scottish American Society of Dunedin – Food Fundraiser for the Dunedin Cares Pantry

The Scottish American Society of Dunedin is hosting a Food Fundraiser for the Dunedin Cares Pantry at the Historic Scottish Hall at 917 Louden Avenue on Saturday, January 27th.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.  The very popular band ‘MacGilliossa’ will be performing that evening from 7 – 10 p.m.

Bring non-perishable food as your entrance fee.

It’s a BYOB event.

Dunedin Newcomers Club is having their annual Bunco fundraiser on Feb 16that the Conmy Center (Our Lady of Lourdes).

Registration and appetizers at 6PM and games start at 7PM.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Chamber office or any member.

First-Citizens Bank Acquires HomeBancorp

North Carolina-based First-Citizens Bank & Trust Co. is acquiring Tampa-headquartered HomeBancorp, which operates HomeBanc. First Citizens Bank will pay $15.03 per share in cash, a Monday release said, and the deal is expected to close by mid-2018.

“This agreement is a significant opportunity to fill in our footprint in Florida,” Frank B. Holding Jr., CEO of First Citizens Bank, said in a Monday release, “and expand into two new markets for us —Tampa and Orlando.”Continue reading

DCO Elects New Officers for 2018

At the December meeting six individuals were elected to the DCO Board of Directors.  William “Bill” Reed, Kim Marston and Joan McHale are new to the DCO Board.  Anita Apley, Phyllis Gorshe and Rebecca Wellborn were elected to serve another three year term. The new officers will be installed in January.
