The purpose of the Dunedin Council of Organizations includes:
- Deep, Purposeful Relationships: We build an authentic community
fellowship where meaningful connections thrive—gathering to
celebrate our city, share breakfast, and grow relationships rooted in
mutual respect, shared humanity, and lasting support. - Neutral Space: We maintain a safe, unbiased environment
completely removed from political polarization, serving as the city’s
neutral ground where citizens, businesses, and government leaders
can drop their guards and engage in authentic conversations. - Information Bridge: We serve as the modern civic “Town Crier,”
bridging the information gap between city government, community
organizations, and the general public to ensure our members are
well-informed and actively engaged citizens. - Socioeconomic Inclusivity: We confront the financial and cultural
barriers that keep people out of the room, ensuring grassroots
advocates, lower-income residents, and smaller non-profits have an
equal seat and voice at the table.
The Dunedin Council of Organizations holds these primary values:

better-engaged resident, dedicating ourselves to connecting the
community with local government and bridging the gap between
government officials and neighborhoods. - Active Engagement: We measure our success not by the size of our
roster, but by the strength of our connections—committing to keep
communication wide open so no member organization is left behind. - Unbiased Neutrality: We guard a rare, polarization-free zone where
all backgrounds, beliefs, and affiliations can meet on common ground
to lower guards and listen to one another. - Shared Humanity: We look beyond professional titles, political
labels, and transactional networking to celebrate the approachable,
authentic, and human elements of our community’s leaders and
residents.
The Dunedin Council of Organizations (DCO) is a politically nonpartisan group, which serves as a medium through which organizations and individuals may better promote and serve the welfare of the community.
Founded in 1964, DCO is comprised of churches, businesses, professional groups, schools, neighborhoods, individuals, and civic, service and fraternal organizations which are interested in advancing the civic, cultural and commercial advantages of the area.
Membership is open to Businesses, Not-For-Profit Organizations and Individuals in the greater Dunedin area.
