United Faiths Walk of Peace

January 28 | 1:30 pm Registration | 2:00 Walk begins

Pioneer Park to Weaver Park

Join in the walk for peace. Registration begins at 1:30 pm at Pioneer Park with the Walk commencing at 2:00 pm. Purchase a UFWoP tee. Walkers will journey to the Masjid Al-Salaam, 1218 New York Ave, and end at Weaver Park for a celebration including music, drum circle and other entertainment to be determined.

Volunteers needed. Please message via Facebook if you are interested in helping.

This year’s charities are Clothes to Kids https://clothestokids.org/ and Dunedin Cares https://www.dunedincares.org/. Donations for both charities will be accepted prior to the walk. Please see their websites for the items most needed.

2023 St. Joseph Sounds Flat Classic – Fishing Tournament

           

October 13 @ 7:00 am – 12:00 pm

The St. Joseph Sound Flats Classic pairs experienced captains with local business leaders, companies, sponsors, and individuals for an exciting day of catch-and-release fishing and fun while supporting the charities of the Rotary Club of Dunedin and Dunedin Boat Club.

The competition kicks off with a silent and live auction during the cocktail hour and dinner. Additional tickets are available for purchase for those guests who choose not to fish.

On Friday morning, anglers will board their flats boats captained by a professional fishing guide and set out on the St. Joseph Sound. It’s worry-free fishing for you and your friends or clients. Fishing licenses are not required, and each vessel is fully stocked with the following:

North Pinellas County Democratic Club – August 2023 Monthly Meeting – In-Person & Zoom

North Pinellas Democratic Party

The North Pinellas County Democratic Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, August  17, 2023.  Our in-person meeting will be held at the Scottish Cultural Center, 917 Louden Ave in Dunedin. Our meeting starts with social time at 6:30 pm, followed by the business meeting at 7:00 pm. We’ll provide a Zoom link on August 16 for those who wish to join virtually. 

This month we welcome Bryan Beckman (campaign manager for incumbent Councilmember Kathleen Beckman) and Beth Davis to discuss strategies for the March 2024 Clearwater elections; Candidate filings begin Sept 20th.  Vote by Mail for Clearwater voters is the key to winning!
We will also get updates from our District 57 and 58 Chairs on the organization happening in our districts and where we still need help.  We need everyone to get involved.

The Scottish Cultural Center is proud to welcome back Seven Nations live in concert for a very special concert at the Scottish Cultural Center.  Seven Nations are one of the best live bands in Celtic Music, and we are so proud to have them back at our concert hall.

Seven Nations will offer a fantastic evening of songs, stories, and tunes. The original Seven Nations lineup of drums, guitars, and bass made room for bagpipes and fiddle to develop a unique Celtic sound and driving, original songs honed by 20 years of touring and over a million miles on the road. Their rollicking style is blended with a charismatic, passionate stage presence creating an unforgettable live experience.

The concert will be held at the Scottish Cultural Center in downtown Dunedin, 917 Louden Avenue (across from Caledonia Brewing).

The Scottish Cultural Center is proud to produce live musical events for the Dunedin Community. The Scottish Cultural Center is the focal point of Dunedin’s Scottish Arts Program, and the Scottish American Society is proud to present these Celtic concerts in partnership with the Cultural Center.   As a 501 C 3 organization, proceeds from these events go to supporting the Scottish Arts Programs in Dunedin as well as maintaining the Scottish Cultural Center, which is one of Dunedin’s Historical Landmarks.!* 

PCSO Community Grant Applications – Deadline March 31

Community Grant Applications Now Open

Every year the Sheriff’s Citizens Association funds local initiatives through its Community Grant Program. Awards of up to $1,000 will be given to programs that empower youth, support children and families, or to programs founded by young people. Funds for the award come from Citizens Association members’ annual dues and donations throughout the year. Last year the Citizens Association gave a total of $15,000 to worthy initiatives. The Sheriff’s Citizens Association is a networking group of members who are dedicated to supporting and learning more about the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO). A committee votes on the winners. If your organization could use a little help in helping the community, please apply here. The application deadline is March 31, 2023.

Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show

March 11 | Shopping begins 9:30 am | Main room opens 10:30 am

The theme for this year’s Fashion Show is “All Around The Town” with fashions provided by Suncoast Hospice. Guests will be able to shop in the “Hospice Shop” in the lobby of the Dunedin Community Center from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, so arrive early to get some fantastic deals on beautiful garments and accessories. Guests will be able to enter the main event room at 10:30 am. Fashion Show guests will enjoy a refreshing lunch catered by Palate Culinary Services. There will be door prizes and many opportunities will be available to purchase tickets for beautiful items donated by members, generous merchants and friends of the Dunedin Youth Guild.

The cost is $40.00 per person and reserved tickets can be purchased from any Dunedin Youth Guild member, by calling 727-734-0394, or online. Seating is limited so early ticket purchases are advised. (Special VIP tables are also available.)
