Join us in celebrating Robert Burns, Scotland’s most famous poet! The evening includes a selection of single malt whiskys introduced with song and stories by Scottish singer songwriter Bill Mullen. A Robert Burns Night must feature a sampling HAGGIS, NEEPS (turnip), and TATTIES (mashed potatoes), and Scottish shortbread.

You can choose to purchase a whisky tasting ticket for $50, or beer/wine ticket for $35.

Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be Scottish or a member to enjoy this great night. Join us for a fun evening of songs, poetry, foods of Scotland, and whisky!

Don’t miss the chance to hear from artist Ted Wray at this special artist talk! Ted turns damaged books into magic, immortalizing them by transforming them into mind-expanding 3-D worlds of inexhaustible wonder, with just a blade.

Wray has had careers in the fields of printing, music and art, earning him multiple awards in his pursuit of excellence in each career.

In 2019, he once again reinvented himself, this time as one of the world’s most innovative Book Excavation Artists. Since then he has earned various awards while exhibiting his works in New York, Rhode Island, Maryland, Georgia and Florida. In 2021, his month-long solo exhibition, “Don’t Judge a Book by its Carver” included over 50 of his works. Wray’s staggering creative output exceeds 200 works of Book Excavation Art, over 70 of which are in private collections across the United States and Canada. He currently lives and works in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he is represented by Brenda McMahon Gallery.

Documentary Screening Dec. 5

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is hosting a special screening and reception to celebrate the launch of Hope in the Water, a three-part PBS docuseries that travels the globe spotlighting trailblazing fishers, water farmers, and environmental activists who are discovering new and ancient practices that can not only feed us but also restore our threatened oceans and fresh waterways.

Presented by WEDU PBS, Fed by Blue, and Clearwater Marine Aquarium, the evening kicks off with a reception, followed by a short screening, panel discussion, and food tasting featuring responsibly-sourced seafood. Wines provided by St. Supery Vineyards.

Coffee and Conversation with Artist Gary Greer Nov. 21

Join us at the Dunedin Fine Art Center on Thursday, November 21, at 12:00 p.m. for an inspiring Coffee & Conversation with renaissance artist Gary Greer! Sponsored by DFAC’s Sterling Society, this monthly series brings together art lovers to connect with notable artists over coffee.

Gary Greer’s career is a fascinating journey across creative disciplines. Inspired early on by Salvador Dalí and Norman Rockwell, Gary studied design at the Kansas City Art Institute, launching his career in industrial design and advertising. His path has included roles as a designer and illustrator in advertising and television, leading creative teams, and branching into digital art and animation. Greer even recorded two albums, pairing his music with surreal animated videos.

Currently, he is working on his first children’s book, Astronaut with the Red Umbrella, and has dedicated recent years to sculpting. His Pod Sculptures are crafted from palm tree elements, transformed into intricate, nature-inspired forms.

North Atlantic right whales are one of the world’s most endangered large whale species. Join us for a comprehensive discussion about these whales including their life history, current populations status, and the threats they face. Gain insights from experts about ongoing efforts designed to protect these whales. Learn about the critical work of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute, including aerial surveys and other essential research, and learn how these initiatives are crucial to the conservation of right whales.

Scottish American Society Presents: Tannahill Weavers in Concert

The Tannahill Weavers were founded almost 50 years ago. They have played around the world and have many albums. We’ve hosted them at the Scottish Cultural Center many times and are proud to have them back this fall! Our Hall is a wonderful intimate venue for a great concert.
