The new officers will be installed in January.

Welcome New DCO Members!

Please help us welcome our new members at the upcoming meeting. The Islamic Society of North Pinellas, located at 1218 New York Avenue in Dunedin. Imam Abdel Monem Dobal and Alwi Al Saquaf, President of the Board, will be representing the organization at DCO meetings. The Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin, who operates The Scot Shop at 1265 Bayshore Blvd, have also joined DCO.  Vice Mayor Deborah Kynes sponsored them and we hope to welcome their President, Patricia Irwin at a future meeting.

New DCO Member – Voices of Hope for Aphasia

Voices of Hope for Aphasia, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that started in St. Petersburg, and is thrilled and proud to now be offering programs at the Hale Activity Center to benefit Dunedin
citizens and residents of the surrounding areas.
We are the only community-based aphasia program in West Central Florida, providing group-based programs for adults with communication disabilities due to stroke or other brain injury. People with communication disabilities typically experience social isolation, difficulty participating in conversations and other social activities, due to their disability. They may end up sitting at home, in front of the TV, isolated and lonely with the exception of their immediate family. Our programs are the remedy to this problem – we provide communication supports that empower and enable everyone to fully participate in conversation and activities that are accessible to all.

DCO February Breakfast Meeting is a Triple Play!!

Did you know the song “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” is a 1908 Tin Pan Alley song written by Jack Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer, although neither of its authors OO8eazkQhad attended a game prior to writing the song? Why should you care?  Because baseball, specifically Toronto Blue Jay’s baseball, is the feature at this month’s DCO breakfast. Staying in the same ballpark, our spotlight will be on the Dunedin Youth League. Speaking of ballparks, Florida Auto Exchange, sponsor of Dunedin’s own ballpark, will be sponsoring the breakfast this month. Talk about a triple play!Continue reading

Please let everyone know the date and time and let’s have a great dedication.

New Marketing and Communication Plan

In an effort to improve communication with the public and with their members, Dunedin Council of Organizations (DCO) directors formed a DCO homepageMarketing and PR Committee in June of this year, and tasked them with devising a new marketing and communication plan. Based on the recommendations of the committee, DCO has undertaken the development of a new website, Facebook page, quarterly newsletter and email delivery system.  In addition to improving communications, these enhancements will help DCO to streamline operations, reduce expenses, expand their membership and deliver more value to their existing members.Continue reading
