Are You My Neighbor?
A Discussion on Poverty in Pinellas
December 14, 2019, 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Scottish American Society
917 Louden Ave., Dunedin
Hear about Pinellas County’s economic divide and how we, as neighbors, can get involved to make a difference. Learn about:
· the hidden poverty in our neighborhoods
· how poverty affects children and families
· what we as a community can do
We’ll start with a fact based overview about families and children living in poverty by Mr. Tim Dutton, Executive Director of Unite Pinellas, followed by questions to Nicole Carr, Pinellas County School Board, Beth Houghton, CEO of the Juvenile Welfare Board, and Pat Gerard, Pinellas County Commissioner.
This event is a COMMUNITY DISCUSSION, free of charge, and we hope that residents impacted most by poverty will be able to join and be part of the discussion! We’ll provide a free all-day bus pass for the first 20 community participants who rely on public transportation. The Dunedin Library is on Bus Route #78. Light refreshments will be served.
SPONSORS: This FREE event is the latest in a series of Hot Topic events hosted by the League of Women Voters of North Pinellas and the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area.
