The Dunedin Senior Hall of Fame recognizes older residents who have made significant contributions to the community, and the Class of 2016 is open for nominees. Deadline for submitting a nomination is March 12th.  The city’s Committee on Aging sponsors the Senior Hall of Fame and plaques displaying previous inductees are located at the Hale Senior Activity Center, 330 Douglas Ave.

Nomination booklets are available at various city locations and through many organizations.  They will be at the DCO February 19th meeting.  Please help distribute them and consider nominating a deserving man, woman or couple.   Requirements for being nominated are:

– Be 75 years of age or older
– Have resided in Dunedin for 10 years or more but not required to be currently living in Dunedin.
– Have demonstrated the art of aging successfully
– Have donated time and abilities to activities serving the community
– Both individual men and women nominees are welcomed, as are couples.

Dunedin has been recognizing its senior community with the Hall of Fame since 1999. Hall members include an assortment of city officials, community leaders and longtime volunteers.   Last year’s two inductees were Manny Koutsourais and Melba Rilott. Once nominees are evaluated, and the new recipients for 2016 are selected, an awards luncheon banquet will be held on May 11th to recognize and honor them.

Sponsored by the Dunedin Committee on Aging.
