New Marketing and Communication Plan

In an effort to improve communication with the public and with their members, Dunedin Council of Organizations (DCO) directors formed a DCO homepageMarketing and PR Committee in June of this year, and tasked them with devising a new marketing and communication plan. Based on the recommendations of the committee, DCO has undertaken the development of a new website, Facebook page, quarterly newsletter and email delivery system.  In addition to improving communications, these enhancements will help DCO to streamline operations, reduce expenses, expand their membership and deliver more value to their existing members.

The new website, www.dunedincouncil.org, features a responsive design for mobile users, searchable membership directory, calendar of events, member news blog and online application and payment systems. Members may submit events through the website to be shared online, via the newsletter and announced at monthly meetings. They may also submit news stories and special offers to be shared with other members. DCO chose Julie Schafer at AdSharp Web Design to design and host the site. Julie was aided in the development by DCO’s Marketing and PR Committee, who will maintain the website once it is operational.

DCO facebook pageThe DCO Facebook page was been enhanced with more detail and photos and is updated daily with member news and local events. Members are encouraged to Like the page, “check-in” at meetings and share posts on their timelines to attract new members.

The newsletter will be emailed three times a year, and contain announcements and special offers from members, upcoming events and other information of interest to DCO members. The newsletter, and all DCO email communications, will be managed with a secure email database and platform. In addition, DCO events will be promoted via public and private community calendars.

The Marketing and PR Committee was chaired by Lynn Smeraldo and includes Phyllis Gorsche, Donna Smith and Rebecca Wellborn.
